The setup of MZ-Tools 8.0 for VBA (MZTools8VBASetup.exe) doesn't require admin rights to install and it's recommended. However, there are companies that have group policies that prevent the execution of setups. If this is your case, you can run MZ-Tools 8.0 for VBA without running the setup. To do this:
- Download the MZ-Tools 8.0 for VBA portable from the web site and unzip the file on your hard disk or on a removable USB drive.
- Run MZTools8VBAPortable.exe (it doesn't require admin rights). You get this window:
- Ensure that the checkbox "Isolate MZ-Tools from other add-ins (recommended)" is checked. Otherwise, if you use other .NET-based add-ins for the VBA editor you will get the error "Unable to cast object of type 'VBClassicExtensibility.VBProjectClass' to type 'Microsoft.Vbe.Interop._VBProject'."
- To register MZ-Tools 8.0 for VBA, click the Register button. This will add some entries in the Windows Registry for the VBA editor to recognize the MZ-Tools 8.0 for VBA add-in (the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive is used, no admin rights are required).
- Open the VBA editor, and customize the folders for the options of MZ-Tools.
- To register MZ-Tools 8.0 with the license file, see Registration (licensing).
- If you want to unregister MZ-Tools 8.0 for VBA at some point, run MZTools8VBAPortable.exe again and click the Unregister button. This will remove the created entries from the Windows Registry.
