10 reasons to use MZ-Tools

Here are the top 10 reasons to use MZ-Tools:

1. You will save time coding

You always have tight deadlines to finish your projects, so it is critical to create and find code as fast as possible. MZ-Tools provides several features for that purpose. For example, wouldn't you like to use code templates with predefined or user-defined variables rather than typing the same code over and over? Or to know the callers to a given procedure? Or to create a property or add an exception handler with a couple of clicks or keystrokes? Even if your Visual Studio IDE already provides some of these features, the ones provided by MZ-Tools are much more powerful and user-friendly.

2. You will save time designing too

Windows applications are still widely used today, so you have to design forms from time to time, and when you have to do it, you surely know how boring and time-consuming it is to align the controls, to name them, to set other properties, to adjust their TabIndex and so on. Wouldn't be nice to get the controls correctly sized and positioned as you drop them onto your forms? Or to adjust their TabIndex by clicking a button only once in an assistant? Or even better, doing nothing (auto-adjusted as you drop them)?

3. You will improve the quality of your code

It's not all about coding and designing faster. You also want quality in the result, don't you? If you work alone you may want to review some aspects of your own code and forms, and if you are a team leader, you may want to review the work of other members of your team. For example, you may want to find dead code, to review the spelling of the captions, to ensure your coding standards and much more.

4. You will get documentation of your projects

Even if you have not documented your classes and procedures with headers, you can get a lot of information from the code structure itself: the projects in your solution, its files and its code elements (namespaces, classes, procedures and so on). In a few seconds you can have all that information either in XML or in HTML format, ready to impress your boss. And don't forget to show him an Excel report with the statistics for your project, including the number of code lines, comments, their ratios and so on.

5. You will enjoy a better experience using the IDE

The Visual Studio IDE has some annoying deficiencies. How do you remove solutions from the Start Page to keep only the ones that you use most? Or what about collapsing the nodes of the Solution Explorer for your huge solution? And what about getting rid of the temporary projects that you create from time to time just for testing (WindowsApplication75, WindowsApplication76 and so on)?. For these and other annoyances, MZ-Tools provides handy features to enhance or replace the ones in the IDE.

6. You will be able to extend MZ-Tools easily with your own operations using the MZ-Tools SDK

Extensibility is one of the major improvements of development tools, since it allows you to add missing features that you need. So, MZ-Tools (which is itself an extension for Visual Studio) is in turn extensible: it provides an SDK so you can create and plug your own new operations or reviews seamlessly into it.

7. You will find it very easy to use and configure

The number of features of MZ-Tools (40+) may seem a bit overwhelming at first glance, but it is so easy to use that you will get used to it very soon. It is also very easy to configure, because all settings are modified through a central window and each feature has its own configuration section, easy to locate by its button icon.

8. You will get excellent customer support

No software product is free of bugs and problems, and although this one is no exception, there is a significant difference: you will get timely answers to your questions (typically within 24 hours) and you will get frequent new builds with bug fixes.

9. You will join the worldwide group of satisfied developers using the family of MZ-Tools add-ins

The MZ-Tools add-ins are in use by tens of thousands of satisfied developers worldwide. Some of them love MZ-Tools so much that they go crazy (Rick C, from Boise, at Programmers Heaven: "My next child, be it a boy or a girl, I will name MZTools. That's how much I love it.") and others have made the big effort of localizing the help file to their language and they are sharing their contributions (localized help files, code templates, etc.) in the Community Place section. Many of these users regret that they did not discover MZ-Tools sooner. You can read their rave reviews on the User Reviews page. So, what are you waiting for? Get MZ-Tools!

10. You can afford it

Some editions of MZ-Tools are freeware and the others are very affordable, with no maintenance cost for minor updates and with unlimited support via e-mail. If you add that you will save a lot of time using it, it can be considered a very good deal.
